FAMILY DEDUCTIBLES AND OUT-OF-POCKET MAXIMUMS ARE EMBEDDED The deductible and out-of-pocket maximum for each person in the family is capped at the individual amount. In other words, once an individual has reached the individual deductible amount, the plan will start paying benefits for that person. And, once the combined expenses of all family members reaches the family amount, the deductible or out-of- pocket maximum will be considered met for all family members (even if they haven’t met the individual amount).
